There is a lack of knowledge about the utilization of ingested protein by different tissues in the human body and this forms a barrier to the development of tailor-made feeding practices for patient populations. This project aims to quantify the incorporation of protein-derived amino acids in various organ tissues to show that dietary protein provides precursors for all human tissues. This will open applications for protein products beyond their current use that is targeted to muscle tissue.
