Samenvatting project
Fast maturation of the intestine-immune system in early life is crucial to prevent diseases correlated to intestinal complications later in life. The intestinal tract and immune system are the main interface between the baby’s body and its environment. Studying gut development is difficult for ethical reasons. In this project we develop an in vitro intestine-immune co-culture model representing a new-born baby (iBaby) to study the effects of sustainable nutritional components on maturation.
