The project Integrating planetary health in circular food systems aims to create a simulation model in which food systems can be configured to balance the impact on both planetary health and human nutrition and health. The project will build upon existing foundations of the biophysical Circular Food Systems (CiFoS) simulation model which has been developed for food systems configurations and extend this beyond nutrient production, i.e., to providing nutrition impact and health impact. This will be done by integrating nutrient quality aspect and health impact aspects into the simulation model. The eveloped simulation model allows the desigh of food systme configurations that have the potential to be truly sustainable with respect to both planetary boundaries and human nutritions.
