The project aims to delineate the mechanisms and effects of Human Milk Oligosaccharides (HMOs) on the immune system and the intestinal epithelium in relevance to non- communicable diseases, while at the same time, investigate methods for large scale production for more complex, functional HMOs. Thus, we expect to identify functional HMOs in human nutrition and ways to produce them in the future.
